Ella - FAQ

Is Ella AI a law firm?

Nope. Ella AI is not a law firm, and we don’t provide legal advice. We explain the law, help you understand legal documents, and connect you with real lawyers when needed.

Can I use Ella for legal advice?

Ella provides legal education—not advice. That means we’ll help you understand your question, documents, or issue in plain English, but we won’t tell you what to do or act as your representative. If your situation needs real advice, we’ll let you know and help you connect with a lawyer.

Is there a lawyer reviewing my questions?

Yes. All AI responses are monitored by a licensed lawyer (in real time or shortly after) to make sure the information is accurate, responsible, and non-advisory.

How do you protect my data?

We anonymize all personal details - like names, locations, and company names - before your questions or documents are processed. No one sees your real info unless you choose to connect with a lawyer.

What if I want to speak with a real lawyer?

Just ask. If we detect that your question needs legal advice, or if you want one-on-one help, we’ll match you with a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction at a clear, fixed fee.

Is Ella free to use?

For now, yes. We’re offering free access while we’re in early launch mode. Some services (like connecting with a lawyer) may have costs, but we’ll always be upfront about it.

(Unlike many traditional lawyers, cough.)

What kinds of things can Ella help with?

Right now, Ella covers:

  • Trademarks

  • Wills & Powers of Attorney (Legacy)

  • Workplace rights

  • Startup legal help

  • Lawyer tools (via our Counsel assistant)

And we’re adding more.

I’m a lawyer. Can I work with you?

We’d love that. Learn more on our Lawyer page and apply to join the Oversight Team or future Marketplace.
